“The best gifts are given by the earth, and we thank it by preserving the purity of its bounty”
Paolo Menozzi
Podere Beghetto is an organic family owned and operated vineyard in the small hamlet of Gargallo, located just outside of the city of Carpi in the heart of the province of Modena. For generations, we have been dedicated to the cultivation and harvesting of grapes, and now have taken our passion and experience and focused it into the creation of a natural wine. The combination of traditional and modern innovation allows us to offer a quality product which embodies respect for the land and its enhancement.
In 1943 Nonno (Granpa) Augusto, driven by his love for the countryside, fulfilled his dream of leaving the city center behind and settled in the picturesque hamlet of Gargallo. An old Osteria by the name of “Tre Pêchi”, located in Via Beghetto, was lovingly restored to become the family home and the adjacent vineyards provided the family with their own homemade wine. As the quantity of wine produced was more than enough for the family’s needs, Nonno Augusto began to sell his own bottles in the local village shop.
Three generations after Nonno Augusto first began making wine; his grandson Paolo Menozzi has dedicated himself to keeping the traditions of his grandfather alive. By placing value on the social and cultural importance of wine, as well as adopting improved biodynamic and organic farming methods, his hope is that the spirit of Nonno Augusto’s dream lives on in a product that stands out on the market.
“The best gifts are given by the earth, and we thank it by preserving the purity of its bounty” – Paolo Menozzi
The vineyards extend over thirteen hectares of silty soil.
Vines currently present on the estate are; Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce, Lambrusco di Sorbara, Grechetto Gentile, Lambrusco Oliva and Lancellotta all of which have an average age of between 10 to 12 years.
Vines are espaliered using simple cord while thinning and green harvesting operations are carried out in the summer months in order to safeguard the best bunches and ensure optimal grape production and ripening. After careful selection, all of our grapes are harvested by hand and as our product does not undergo mechanical filtration, nor is there use of enological adjuvants at any point in our winery, the quality of our final product is optimal.
Andare Oltre
Organic Sparkling White Wine, refermented on its own indigenous yeasts
It feels like being in a spring field, I smell the scents of blooming plants, apple trees and white flowers of the field, soft and elegant notes that make you take a deep breath to absorb as much of these fragrances as you can.
It turns out lively and lighthearted, knowing the history of the grape that makes up this wine, it makes one smile at the lightness with which it has moved over the years and the gracefulness with which it adapted to give great wines, from Greece to Umbria, to pass through Bologna and on to Carpi.
A grape that gives so many territorial scents and a concrete body, of matter, that glides away with its splendid bubbles, going beyond technicalities, going beyond the wines we already know.
No mechanical filtration nor enological adjuvants have been used.
Terra e Vigna
Organic Sparkling Red Wine , refermented on its own indigenous yeasts
Grapes.
Red grapes as color.
Ripe grapes as fragrance.
Fresh grapes as flavor.
Probably the most representative color of the land of origin of this wine, the red Lambrusco, with its froth, obviously red, that slowly fades to leave room for the ripe fruit found in the vineyard and the roots that generate it from the soil.
Morello cherry and rhubarb together give a broad and persistent palate, in which there is no lack of complexity given by acidity, tension, savoriness, and elegant tannin.Elements that allow great pairings with all local dishes, representative of rich lands and crisp vines.
Intense and full purple red, releases aromas of black cherry and cherry.Fruity and vinous, balanced body, delicately brackish aftertaste.
Presents background.
No mechanical filtration nor enological adjuvants have been used.
Vino di Confine.
Organic Sparkling Rosé Wine, refermented on its own indigenous yeasts
A wine as lively as the land from which it comes, like the people who live this countryside, like the froth it generates as soon as you pour it, rich and enveloping.
It immediately imposes a smile seeing the pomegranate color in the glass, a shy red that does not exesprime, rather, it remains indecisive tending to orange, leaving to you who taste it the game of defining it.
The nose is sincere, reminiscent of days spent in the countryside in the first shy summer heat, with morning scents that slowly evolve into red fruit, bitter citrus to arrive at the opaque scent of the setting sun.
It is noted for its freshness but is remembered for the salt that remains, a wine that absorbs matterfrom the soil to express it in the air.
In the mouth it creates a slow motion that expands, from the sweet tiparrives to the bitter body, which fading immediately leaves a broad savoriness.
If you are thinking about what to pair with it, don’t, play to discover the facets it offers, the varisapors that it touches can conceal great surprises, surprises that you will be able to discover only by overcoming your boundaries.
No mechanical filtration nor enological adjuvants have been used.
Ieri. Oggi. Domani.
Organic Sparkling Rosè Wine, refermented on its own indigenous yeasts
Pure Marani from the 60-year-old Bellussiera, recovered to enhance the old vines from which it is formed.
On the nose the tension of black cherry jam, the rich floral bouquet of rosehips veering towards hibiscus notes.
On the palate it is dry without losing roundness, fruity and velvety on the entry that leads us to an expressive drinking finish, leaves the mouth wide with a good savoriness that recalls another glass.
Citrus notes of lime and grapefruit with a slightly astringent tannin make it ideal for gastronomic world and its fine but persistent perlage of an antiqued pink color make it suitable for pairing with fresh and semi-mature cheeses, aged meats or with fish and shellfish dishes.
Our Niki is also suitable for some typical baked desserts of our territory such as tarts, belsone and sbrisolona, as they say, a wine for the whole meal.
No mechanical filtration nor enological adjuvants have been used.
All’ombra della vigna vecchia.
Organic Sparkling Red Wine, refermented on its own indigenous yeasts
Our bottle-refermented Salamino, our interpretation born from the 60-year-old belussiera we recovered.
On the nose balsamic notes, remembering the black cherries in spirit typical of this area.
On the palate good tension, sapidity and freshness are not lacking in the rich varietal nuances, in the slightly salty finish due to soil influences.
It presents a fine bubble and a ruby red color with garnet reflections.
It is suiteble for gnocco and local cured meats and dishes with a strong flavor with a fatty connotation that takes advantage of the acidity of our Vincanto to clean and enliven the taste.
No mechanical filtration nor enological adjuvants have been used.
We have incorporated all of the elements that describe our philosophy, in regards to the care and cultivation of our vines, within our logo:
The yellow sun represented by a circle and a golden dot
A purple cluster of grapes
Our monogram, represented in brown, to symbolize the roots of our vineyard
A propeller, coloured green to reflect nature, has three separate meanings:
The logo was created by artist Francesca Lugli, to whom we have also entrusted the creation of our labels.
